You’ll find soap, toilet paper, plus cleansers for your face and for the bathtub, along with lots of other miscellaneous items for personal or household usage. In addition, many of us also store personal items and medications in the bathroom. For these sorts of items, a more discreet and a much more secure location is often advisable. Fortunately, furniture manufacturers make special cabinets that can hide away with ease in just about any bathroom and that lock to allow you to stow your private items away without worry.

We have certainly come a long way from the wall mounted, mirror fronted medicine cabinets of yesteryear. Today’s cabinets can be recessed and locked, or they can hang on the wall and have intricate latches or locks that make them nearly impossible for anyone who shouldn’t to access their contents. Best of all, they look good. Some of the recessed wall cabinets can look like works of art, featuring door panels that are enameled, painted or covered with mirrored tiles. Hanging cabinets often are made from quality hardwoods with brass or burnished steel hinges and deceptively decorative locks. They are built to look good and also to keep their contents secret from prying eyes and thieving fingers.

Of course, thievery and snooping aren’t the only dangers you guard against when you use more secure bathroom cabinets. You also prevent accidental intrusion into your private medicines and other items by children who are too young to know any better. A discreet, carefully secured cabinet can easily prevent a needless tragedy.

So, enjoy your bathroom more by adding decorative and discreet cabinets that offer security and good looks in one convenient package. You’ll feel better about your bathroom storage than ever once you do.

PostHeaderIcon Easy Ways to Organize Bathroom Cabinets

Disorganized items take up a lot more space than those that are carefully sorted out and put in their own special areas. If your bathroom cabinets are filled with clutter, here are some ideas to help you get organized and get that mess under control.

Floor cabinets are easiest to organize. These tall, roomier cabinets are often meant to hold larger items. I like to arrange from the bottom up. Use the lower shelves to hold things that are bulky and could possible leak or spill. If they do spill, the leak will make it to floor but spare anything on lower shelves. The next tier up can hold folded towels and washcloths or spare rolls of tissue. Use the top tier shelves, usually smaller, for items like hand cream, deodorant and other personal hygiene items. Try to avoid putting items on top of the cabinets unless they’re decorative. The idea is, after all, to eliminate clutter.

In wall cabinets, use the small, limited amount of shelving carefully. Again, taller spill-able items get the bottom shelf and then work your way up. As you organize, go through your OTC and prescription medicines and supplements. Throw out any that are expired. That makes more room for other stuff in the cabinet. Also, combining the ear swabs and cotton balls in a single container takes up a lot less space.

Finally, we come to the big open cabinet beneath the sink. For this area choose square or rectangular plastic or wicker baskets to hold smaller items. Keep them organized by types and keep them neat.

Like any other area of the house, keeping the clutter at bay requires constant work. Still, if you have bathroom cabinets, you want to make the most of that precious extra storage. Organizing the contents can make that happen.
